Professional Development Workshops

The Erie Canal Museum is proud to partner with Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES School Library System to offer three full-day professional development workshops each school year for teachers and librarians throughout Central New York. The full-day sessions are free of charge, and each participant earns six CTLE hours. They take place at the Museum, 318 Erie Boulevard East, Syracuse. Presenters include Museum staff and Martha Lawson, a seventh-grade social studies teacher in the Liverpool Central School District.

Participants learn about the origins and impact of the Erie Canal, take a guided tour of the Erie Canal Museum, gain ideas for instruction in several disciplines, and have the opportunity to develop new, inquiry-based lessons.

Participation is limited to 16 people. We will be scheduling 2019-2020 dates soon, so be sure to check this page and the OCM BOCES SLS website for updates.
