Next free professional development workshop is Wednesday, July 29
The Erie Canal Museum is proud to partner with Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES School Library System to offer a free, full-day professional development workshop for teachers and librarians throughout New York State. We are presenting the next workshop on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. It will take place at the Museum, 318 Erie Boulevard East, Syracuse.
Sign up for this free workshop by visiting the OCM-BOCES SLS workshop web page.
Attend this workshop to learn about the many ways to integrate all aspects of the Erie Canal’s history and impact into the classroom. You will receive primary sources from the Erie Canal Museum’s collections that relate to abolition, the women’s rights movement, immigration, the Industrial Revolution, and several areas of STEM. You will also learn a variety of techniques for incorporating museum collections and museum field trips into teaching. Martha Lawson, a social studies teacher with the Liverpool School District, and Museum staff will conduct the workshop.
Participation is limited to 30 people, so be sure to register soon. We hope to see you on July 29!
