Take a walk along the Erie Canal through the downtown Syracuse heritage area during this guided tour organized by the Erie Canal Museum.
The tour begins at the Museum, 318 Erie Boulevard East. It follows the route of the 19th century Canal through Clinton Square, and tours Hanover Square as it leads you back to the Museum and the 1850 Syracuse Weighlock Building. Learn how the waterway shaped all aspects of the community, and see how the neighborhood changed since the days when the Canal ran through the heart of the city of Syracuse.
This event is free for Erie Canal Museum members and $10 for the general public. Members are asked to call (315) 471-0593, extension 12, to reserve a space. Additional walking tours are scheduled throughout the summer, so be sure to check our website for new dates and times.
Free parking is available in Museum-designated spots in the lot across the street under routes 81 and 690. We hope you’ll join us for this very special program!
The Erie Canal Museum is partially funded by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
