Downtown Syracuse Erie Canal Walking Tour

July 23 @ 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

$10
Heritage Area Walking Tour

Downtown Syracuse Heritage Area walking tours resume Thursday, July 23

Join the Erie Canal Museum for a guided walking tour of the Downtown Syracuse Heritage Area, Thursday, July 23 at 10 a.m.

The tour begins at the corner of Erie Boulevard East and Montgomery Street, in downtown Syracuse. A trained docent leads participants along the route of the 19th century Erie Canal through Clinton Square, takes them through Hanover Square, and leads them back to the Museum and the historic Syracuse Weighlock Building. Participants learn how the waterway shaped all aspects of the community, and see how the downtown neighborhood changed since the days when the Canal was the centerpiece of the area.

This program is free for Erie Canal Museum members and children aged 17 and under, and $10 for the general public. The tour is limited to 10 people, and all guests must wear face coverings for the duration of the program. All guests must purchase tickets and reserve spots through the Shop page of our website. Museum members are asked to phone 315-471-0593, ext. 10, to receive a member discount code.

Free parking is available in Museum-designated spots in the lot across the street under routes 81 and 690.

Additional walking tours of downtown Syracuse will take place this summer, so be sure to check this website and our Facebook page for new dates and times. We look forward to seeing you for this fun and interesting program!

The Erie Canal Museum is partially funded by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
