A Brief History of Syracuse Curator Talk
June 12, 2020 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Free
Learn about Syracuse history with this Facebook Live event, Friday June 12 at 12 pm EDT
The city of Syracuse, New York rose from humble beginnings to become the fifth most populous city in New York State, and grew as a result of the Erie Canal and the industry it spurred. The city no longer has the Erie Canal, but it is still home to the only remaining weighlock from the 19th century waterway.
Erie Canal Museum Curator Ashley Maready will discuss Syracuse’s history in a Facebook Live presentation on Friday, June 12 at 12 p.m. Maready will use research findings and collection images to look at all aspects of the community, from its Canal days to the present.
A Brief History of Syracuse is free and open to all. Be sure to post questions in the comments section of the Facebook event, or ask questions during the live program. Your questions will help make the program even more informative.
We look forward to seeing you for this program, live on our Facebook page, Friday, June 12 at 12 p.m.!
In response to the COVID-19 crisis and to protect visitors, volunteers, and staff, the Museum is closed to the public until further notice. This online event is a great way to learn Canal history as we all do our part to stay safe and healthy. Until we open our doors, we are working diligently to serve you through these types of programs. We greatly appreciate your support as we face financial uncertainty.
