Tuesdays on the Towpath Interpreted Bike Ride

Tuesdays on the Towpath, a free recreational bike ride organized by the Erie Canal Museum, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, August 20 due to rainy weather on July 16!

This ride takes participants along the route of the Erie Canal in Syracuse, New York. Riders will learn about the 19th century Canal in downtown Syracuse, and explore some of the city’s historic and contemporary Canal systems, including the Onondaga Creekwalk, the Inner Harbor, and Onondaga Lake. The family-friendly ride lasts approximately 90 minutes, and typically ends up at a local establishment serving refreshments. Participants should meet at the Museum, 318 Erie Boulevard East, Syracuse, at 6 p.m. Helmets are required.

Tuesdays on the Towpath is co-sponsored by the Old Erie Canal Community Working Group, and is associated with our display of Water/Ways, a Smithsonian Institution exhibit that examines all aspects of this critical element for life. Water/Ways is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the Museum Association of New York, and was adapted from an exhibition organized by the American Museum of Natural History, New York.
