If you love history, the Erie Canal, and interacting with people, this volunteer position may be just for you. Tour guides, also known as docents, take groups of adults and students throughout the Museum, sharing key information about the Erie Canal’s past, present, and future, and sharing details on the purpose, history and significance of the 1850 National Register Weighlock Building, The training includes information about the Erie Canal and the Museum, details on our public tours and scheduling, as well as a docent manual. No prior experience is necessary. We are hoping that those who support our mission and have time to volunteer will join us.
