Downtown Syracuse Erie Canal Walking Tour

August 22, 2020 @ 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

$10
Walking Tour of Historic Downtown Syracuse

Walking tour examines Erie Canal’s impact on all aspects of Syracuse

Join the Erie Canal Museum for a guided walking tour of historic downtown Syracuse on Saturday, August 22 at 10 a.m.

The tour begins at the corner of Erie Boulevard East and Montgomery Street near the Museum garden. A trained docent leads participants along the route of the 19th century Canal to Clinton Square, where guests learn about some of the city’s most historic sites. The walk continues through Hanover Square, and ends back at the Museum and the historic Syracuse Weighlock Building. Guests learn how the Erie Canal shaped all aspects of the community, and see how the downtown neighborhood has changed since the days when the waterway was the centerpiece of the city.

The program is free for Erie Canal Museum members and children aged 17 and under, and $10 for the general public. The tour is limited to 10 people, and all guests must wear face coverings for the duration of the program. All guests must purchase tickets and make reservations through the Shop page of our website. If you are a Museum member, please email natalie@eriecanalmuseum.org or phone 315-471-0593, ext. 10 to receive a member discount code.

Free parking is available in Museum-designated spots in the lot across the street under routes 81 and 690.

Additional walking tours of downtown Syracuse will take place on Thursdays and Saturdays through August, so be sure to check this website and our Facebook page for dates and times.

Be sure to join us for this fun and interesting program!
