The Erie Canal Museum and its shop will be open to the public on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2018. Doors open at 10 a.m.; the Museum closes at 5 p.m. On the holiday, free parking is available in the lot across the street under routes 81 and 690. Admission is free with a suggested $5 donation.
Located at 318 Erie Boulevard East in downtown Syracuse, the Erie Canal Museum protects and showcases the only existing weighlock building in the United States and shares the history and impact of the Erie Canal through hands-on exhibits, interactive displays and original artifacts. It is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The Museum is partially funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
