BY CAR

Traveling North on I-81
Exit at Adams Street, continue straight on Almond Street. After several blocks, turn left onto Water Street. The Erie Canal Museum is located four blocks down on your right.

Traveling South on I-81
Exit at Clinton Street. Continue on Clinton, turn left onto West Genesee Street. Proceed 3 blocks to Oswego Blvd. Turn right onto Oswego Blvd., then left onto Erie Blvd. The Museum is on your right.

Traveling West on I-690
Exit at Townsend Street. Turn left onto Townsend Street and then turn right onto Water Street. The Erie Canal Museum is located two blocks down on your right.

Traveling East on I-690
Exit at West Genesee Street. Turn left onto W. Genesee St. Go five blocks and turn right onto Oswego Blvd. Turn left onto Erie Blvd. E. and the Museum will be on your right.

BY BIKE

The Erie Canal Museum is located on the Empire State Trail in downtown Syracuse. There are bike racks near the Museum’s entrance and near the intersection of Water and Montgomery Streets. We also allow a limited number of bikes to be stored inside the Museum if we have the space to do so.

BY BUS

The Centro Bus Hub is .6 miles from the Erie Canal Museum, and several bus routes have stops within 2 blocks of the Museum. You can use the Centro Trip Planner to find the best route to the Museum via bus.
