The Erie Canal Museum is a proud participant in Ticket to Ride, a program of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor. Ticket to Ride offers transportation and educational program funding for schools across New York State. By covering bus and tour fees, the program makes it possible for schools to take advantage of educational field trips to designated museums and historic sites throughout the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor.
Ticket to Ride funding is now available for the 2018-2019 school year. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis until available monies are exhausted, and teachers are encouraged to apply for support as soon as possible.
The first step is to schedule field trips for students to the Erie Canal Museum. To do so, phone Steve Caraccilo at 315-471-0593, extension 10, or email steve@eriecanalmuseum.org to plan your visit. After field trips have been arranged, register with the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor to apply for reimbursement for the cost of both the visit and bus transportation. Forms are available through the Erie Canalway NHC website, at https://eriecanalway.org/learn/teachers/registration-form. For more information on this valuable educational service, click here or contact Andrew Kitzmann at (518) 237-7000, ext. 201. You may also email him at andy_kitzmann@partner.nps.gov.
Ticket to Ride funding is limited. Be sure to schedule field trips as soon as possible.
Generous support for Ticket to Ride is provided in part by the First Niagara Bank Foundation, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the M&T Charitable Foundation, the National Park Foundation, the National Park Service, and New York State United Teachers.
