Escape on the Erie, a Free Water/Ways Program
July 20, 2019 @ 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
FreeDuring this free program at the Erie Canal Museum in downtown Syracuse, kids and adults are invited to join the crew of the Nathan Roberts canal boat as they work to solve the clues that will help their mule escape from mule rustlers on the Erie Canal. Escape on the Erie is one of the programs being offered in conjunction with Water/Ways, a Smithsonian Institution Museum on Main Street exhibit that will be on display in the Museum’s second-floor Weighlock Gallery from June 29-August 11.
The Nathan Roberts canal boat has been tied up in Syracuse waiting its turn at the weighlock. Overnight, the mule towing the boat was unhitched and led away. With the guidance of volunteer Museum educators, families and small groups will solve the puzzles, unlock the BreakOut Box and free the mule. As they play the game, participants will learn more about the Erie Canal and other waterways in the Syracuse area, and might even win some cool little prizes!
Participation in this special Water/Ways program is limited to 25 people, so please register soon by phoning 315-471-0593, extension 12, or by emailing frontdesk@eriecanalmuseum.org. Free parking is available in the lot across from the Museum under routes 81 and 690.
Phone 315-471-0593, extension 15 if you have any questions. We hope you join us for this fun program!
